Starting a web site?
The type of web site you want will often determine the process of web design - that is, the content will determine the form.
If you are producing a personal site then you are starting from a very different point and perspective to those who are planning a business brochure, school web site or commercial shopping design.
The key starting point for any design is content and audience.
This is a practical set of articles, so we'll miss out discussing in detail some important questions:
- What is the web site for?
- Who is the target audience?
- What will the visitor get from the site?
Assuming these questions have been answered, then we can start considering the all important task of what makes up the site content. Lets tackle this by example with some variations of what a site might contain:
