Designing Web 2.0 Grahics in Xara

Step 1

Step 1 : typing the word "rHY.ME"

Open up Xara and type the following word: "rHY.ME".

I used the font "Cairo SF" but of course you can use any font of your choice.

Draw a black rectangle about 370px by 20px with no border.

Step 2 : applying colour and transparency

Select one, some or more letters using the text tool and choose fill colour appropriately.

I then set the tacking on all the letters to 100 ems/1000.

On the rectangle, apply a linear transparency from the top to about 15px down

You've now finished with the rectangle for the moment, so move it to one side.
